Men’s Basketball Drop Heartbreaker To Hunter

Bronx, N.Y. – After winning an overtime thriller on the road last Tuesday, the Lehman College men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker, 70-66, to visiting CUNYAC rival Hunter College at The APEX Main Gym on Friday evening.  The Lightning fall to 7-13 overall record and 5-8 in CUNYAC, while the Hawks improve to 5-16 mark and 3-9 in conference play.

Lehman took a 30-26 lead at the intermission and led by as many as 12 points with nine minutes remaining in the second half.

Hunter then outscored the hosts 31-16, while shooting 56 percent from the field and its bench outscored the hosts 66-12 to take a three-point lead (69-66) with three second remaining.

The Lightning had one last chance before final whistle but forward Andre Hampton pass was intercepted by Hawks' Gio Gabbidon, who was fouled on the play.  Gabbidon hit one of two free-throws to seal the victory.

Hampton led the scoring for Lehman with his fifth double-double of the season as he had 21 points with 15 rebounds.   Forward Isaiah Geathers added 14 points and eight boards, while teammate Miguel Haboosh had 13 points for the Lightning.

Lehman returns to action on Monday when it hosts St. Joseph's College-NY in a non-conference encounter at The APEX Main Gym at 6 pm.
