Men’s Basketball Fall To St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team fell 83-78 to visiting St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in a non-conference encounter at The APEX on Monday evening.  The Lightning drop to 7-14 record, while the Bears go to 9-13.

Lehman trailed 43-32 at the intermission after St. Joseph's shot 53 percent from the field including 10 of 19 from three-point range.

In the second half, the Bears hit a skid and shot only 43 percent from the field, while the Lightning got a spark hitting 50% to battle back and cut the visitors lead to one point (71-70) with 3:25 minutes remaining.

The Bears hit a clutch three-point, by Frank Reali, with three minutes left make it a four-point advantage.

After Lehman forward Isaiah Geathers' layup cut the lead to just two points with 2:47 remaining, St. Joseph's Bryan Medy hit a jumper 20 seconds later.

The Lightning could not recover afterwards, as Bears increased their lead to seven points in the final minute after back-to-back three-point misses.

Geathers led Lehman with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Batista added 18 points off the bench and forward Andre Hampton had his sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 boards.

The Lightning hit the road on Wednesday when they take on University of Valley Forge, in a non-conference affair, in Phoenixville, Pa. at 7 pm.
