Baseball Win Ninth-Inning Thriller Against Baruch

Bronx, N.Y. – Infielder Jeremmy Santos scored the winning run, with two outs, in the ninth inning as the Lehman College's baseball team posted a 6-5 thrilling come-from-behind victory over visiting Baruch College in CUNYAC encounter held at South Field on Friday.

The Lightning improve to 5-12 overall record and 1-0 in CUNYAC, while the Bearcats drop to 4-9 mark and 0-1 in conference play.

Trailing 5-2 going into the bottom of the ninth, the rallied as it started with bases loaded and one out as infielder Mark Vargas singled in teammate Emmanuel Frias to make it a three-run game.  Then, Santos doubled-in two more  runs to tied it at 5-5.

After an intentional walk and then forced out at home plate, the bases were loaded once again for the Lightning.  Infielder Henry Gonzalez reached on a Bearcats' error which allowed Santos to cross home plate for the win.

Charlie Hernandez pitched one inning to earn his first collegiate victory as he came in relief of Jarret Oehler who was on the mound for eight strong innings and allowed only four hits with just one earned run for a no decision.

Lehman is back on the field tomorrow (Saturday) as it travels to Coney Island's MCU Park to take on Baruch in a CUNYAC doubleheader starting at noon.
