The Lehman College (5-14:1-2) baseball squad dropped both games of a doubleheader to Baruch (6-9:2-1) in contests played at MCU Park in Coney Island.
Game one was a pitchers dual as
Rich Frommelt came out on the short side of a 2-1 decision. The Bearcats got both of their runs in the fourth inning. After a leadoff double and a walk, a single through the left side put the first run on the board. Lehman was then able to induce a double play however the next batter singled through the right side for the second run. Lehman answered in the top of the fifth as Chris Delgado ledoff the frame with a single to center field. Mike Zerbo then doubled to right. After a ground out and an intentional walk to
Mark Vargas Jeremmy Santos singled down the right field scoring Delgado. Lehman then hit into a double play to kill the rally. The Lightning did not muster a hit in the final two innings.
In the nightcap, despite outhitting the Bearcats 11-10, Lehman fell 10-5. Lehman got on the board in the top of the first after
Anthony Riley smacked a double to right field driving in
Mark Vargas. Baruch quickly countered with a pair of runs in their first at bat. The Lightning tied the game at 2 in the top of the third as Riley once again delivered an RBI single. The Bearcats took the lead for good in the home half of the third plating two runs. Lehman got one back in the fourth but Baruch answered with two more. After the Bearcats added an additional two in the fifth each team scored more runs in the remaining innings for the final margin of victory.

The Lightning return to action on Tuesday with a non-league tilt against Rutgers-Newark on the South Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM.
