Baseball Falls To Rutgers-Newark

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team fell 14-7 to visiting Rutgers-Newark in a non-conference affair on Tuesday at South Field.  The Lightning go to 5-15, while the Scarlet Raiders improve to 6-8 on the season.

Lehman jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one full inning of play, however Rutgers-Newark battled back in the next two innings and by the top of the fifth was leading 5-4.

After the Lightning tied it at 5-5 after fifth inning, the Scarlet Raiders exploded with nine runs in the next two innings and eventually pull away for the victory.

Outfielder Namir Garcia led the Lehman offense going 2-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored, while catcher Anthony Riley drove in two runs as he also went 2-for-5 at bat.

The Lightning are back in action tomorrow (Wednesday) when they travel to face Farmingdale State in a non-conference encounter at 3:30 pm.
