Baseball Sweeps Twin-Bill From Yeshiva

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team swept a non-conference twin-bill from visiting Yeshiva University (10-9; 17-4) at South Field on Wednesday.  The Lightning improve to 7-16 record, while the Maccabees drop to 2-21 mark.

Trailing 9-8 with one out in the bottom of seventh inning, Lehman had runners in the corners (third and first base) when infielder Mark Vargas doubled to center field both runs to give the hosts the come-from-behind victory (10-9) in the opener.  Outfielder Henry Gonzalez had a home run with three RBI, while catcher Anthony Riley also added two RBI for the Lightning.

In the nightcap, Riley and outfielder Namir Garcia each drove in four runs, while teammate Henry Gonzalez added three RBI to lead Lehman to a 17-4 victory.

The Lightning are back in action on Friday when they hosts a CUNYAC encounter against College of Staten Island at 3 pm.
