Bronx, NY – The Lehman College baseball squad dropped a 10-4 decision to Staten Island in a CUNY Athletic Conference affair. With the loss Lehman falls to 7-17 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Staten Island now stands at 7-17:3-4.
CSI got on the board in the second inning with two runs on two hits. The Lightning answered in the bottom half of the frame as
Namir Garcia and
Fernando Polanco each stroked doubles. The Dolphins posted two more runs in each of the next two innings to take a 6-1 lead. Lehman cut into the lead in the sixth as Garcia and
Emmanuel Frias each registered doubles in the frame. The Lightning added a pair of runs in the seventh as Jeremy Santos homered to right center after
Mark Vargas singled down the left field line to cut the lead to 6-4. The Dolphins added a run in the eighth and three more in the ninth for the final margin of victory.
Vargas recorded a team high four hits in five at bats. Garcia also added a pair of hits. Oehler took the loss striking out seven giving up four earned runs.
The two teams are scheduled to play a double header on Staten Island Saturday. First pitch is 12 PM.
