Farmingdale, NY – The Lehman College baseball team dropped a 10-9 non-conference decision to the Rams of Farmingdale State.
Lehman (5-16) trailed 5-0 after three but scored four in the top of the sixth to get back in the game. The Rams (16-5) tacked on three in the seventh and two in the eighth to take a commanding 10-4 lead. The Lehman bats awoke again in the ninth as the Lightning plated five runs.
In the sixth the Lightning manufactured four runs on one hit. The bigger inning game in Lehman's final at bat. Lehman loaded the bases to start the frame and
Mark Vargas delivered a double to right center field clearing the bases.
Fielding plagued the Lightning as Lehman was charged with five errors.
Jarret Oehler went eight strong innings giving up only four earned runs while striking out six.
Anthony Riley continues to swing a hot bat as the junior catcher went 3-4 with a pair of RBI. Vargas was only 1-4 but scored two runs and recorded four RBI.
The Lightning return to action on Monday as they begin a four game home stand hosting Ramapo at 5 PM on the South Field.
