Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team opened its 2019 season with 3-0 home victory against non-conference opponent Sarah Lawrence College on Friday evening at South Field.
Defender
Adewale Adewusi got the Lightning (1-0) on the board in the 22
nd minute with a tally off a corner kick which the Gryphons' goalkeeper Aaron Ashery couldn't handle for a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, forward
Ebenezer Otoo scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from midfielder
Eduardo Victorio for a 2-0 Lehman advantage in the 69
th minute-mark.
With 10 minutes remaining, former goalkeeper and now midfielder
Chris Mulholland closed out the scoring for the Lightning with a one-time shot off a left side cross from defender
Shevante Scott for the 3-0 final. Lehman goalkeeer
Demiraldo Grunasi made three key saves for the shut out victory against Sarah Lawrence (0-1).
The Lightning continue their home stand on Sunday when they welcome SUNY Cobleskill in a non-conference match-up starting at 11 am.
