Men’s Soccer Defeat Cobleskill In OT

Bronx, N.Y. – Midfielder Eduardo Victorio scored less than a minute into the first sudden death overtime period to give hosts Lehman College men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over non-conference opponent SUNY Cobleskill at South Field on Sunday afternoon.  The Lightning improve to 2-0, while the Fighting Tigers drop to 1-1.

Despite an even first half as both sides had five total shots on goal, it was Lehman that got on the board first in the 22nd minute-mark when forward Ebenezer Otoo scored, in his second consecutive collegiate game, off an assist from midfielder Chris Mulholland, in which he beating Cobleskill goalkeeper Rashawn Best to the 1-0 lead.

The Fighting Tigers searched for the equalizer which forced the Lightning to switch goalkeepers (Adrian Magana Santos for Demiraldo Grunasi) midway through the second half.  However, Cobleskill's pressure paid off in the 76th minute when forward Sadou Diallo fired a 20-yard shot that went over Grunasi for the tying goal.

In the overtime, the Lightning caught the Fighting Tigers' defense by surprised as Victorio hit the game-winner off another assist from Mulholland for the 2-1 final.

This is the first time since 2016 that Lehman starts the campaign unbeaten after its opening two games.

The Lightning will hit the road on Tuesday when they face College at Old Westbury in a non-conference game at 4 pm.
