Michal Bareket-Bloom won her first collegiate as head coach of the Lehman College women's tennis team as it posted an 8-1 road victory against Albertus Magnus College at Celentano Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning go to 1-0 record, while the Falcons fall to 0-1 mark.
Lehman opened taking two of the three doubles matches as duos of
Lizaveta Markouskaya/
Diwa Rana (#1) and
Joanna Rosario/
Leslie Juanacio (#3) were victorious over Albertus Magnus' pairs, 8-7 and 8-0, respectively.
The Lightning earned a complete sweep of singles matches against Falcons with
Cien Estuye (#6) and
Yohara Molineros (#5) each winning 6-0, 6-0; while Rosario claimed her #4 encounter 6-2, 6-1.
Celine Figueroa needed to go three sets (6-2, 2-6, 11-9) to win her #3 singles for Lehman, while Rana claimed her #2 match, 6-2, 6-0.
Rounding out the afternoon for the Lightning was Markouskaya also going three sets (6-2, 4-6, 12-10) to capture her #1 singles over the Falcon's Jessica Coughlin.
Lehman returns to action on Tuesday for its home opener at The APEX Tennis Courts against St. Joseph's College-NY.
