Men’s Soccer Team Remain Undefeated After 1-0 Win At Purchase

Purchase, N.Y. – A second half tally from midfielder Marcos Garcia gave the Lehman College men's soccer team a 1-0 win over hosts Purchase College in a non-conference encounter held at Purchase Soccer Field on Wednesday evening.

With the victory, the Lightning remain undefeated with a 5-0 mark this season, while Panthers fall to 1-2 record.

Lehman is currently one of six Division III men's soccer teams that are undefeated in the East Region and one of only three with 5-0 record.

After a scoreless first half with the teams almost leveled in total shots, Lehman turned it up the second stanza and just five minutes into the Garcia, scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from forward Mubarak Ouro.

The Lightning continued to zap the Panthers for the remainder of the second half outshooting them 13 to 2, while also forcing Purchase goalkeeper Mario Olmedo in making nine saves.

Lehman netminders Demiraldo Grunasi and Adrian Magana-Santos shared the shutout as they each had two saves.

The Lightning return home on Saturday for a "battle of the undefeated" as they take on Union College (5-0) in a non-conference match-up at South Field with kickoff set at 2 pm.
