Staten Island, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker on the road, 69-66, to former CUNYAC member College of Staten Island (CSI) at the Sports & Recreation Center on Wednesday evening. The Lightning fall to an 8-7 overall ledger, while the Dolphins improve to 6-10 mark.
Lehman had a 66-65 lead with 41 seconds remaining before CSI's Joseph Zieris hit a pair of free throws to give the hosts a one-point advantage (67-66).
The Lightning had a chance to regain the lead with 29 seconds remaining however forward
Gian Batista missed his jumper and Zieris grabbed the rebound.
After Austin Mick hit another pair of CSI free throws to increase the lead to three points, Batista had an opportunity to tied the game but his three-point attempt for the Lightning was short and the Dolphins held on for the victory.
Forwards
Mo Idrissou and
Ocean Scott led Lehman's offense scoring 12 points each, while teammate
Basheeru Camara had 10 points along with Batista, who also grabbed 10 rebounds for his fourth 'double-double' of the season.
The Lightning are back in action on Friday when they welcome CUNYAC leader Baruch College at 7:30 pm.
