New York, NY – The Lehman College women's basketball team dropped a hard fought 65-56 decision at CCNY in a key CUNYAC match-up with play-off implications.
The Lightning (1-16:1-6) owned a three point advantage at the end of the first quarter and scored the first ten points of the second quarter to extend the lead 25-12. The Beavers battled back and cut the deficit to 28-22 at halftime. The third quarter was a back and forth affair and when the teams started the final 10 minutes, CCNY (2-14:2-5) was on top 40-38. The Beavers went on to outscore the Lightning 25-18 in the fourth quarter.
Lehman was led by
Nina Gill. The sophomore and Elmsford, NY native netted a team high 27 points and eight rebounds. She was also credited with four steals, two blocks and two assists. Rachel Vasquez and Valeria Rojas led the squad in rebounding with 14 and 10 respectively.
Fatomata Trawalleh came off the bench to score 16 points.
The Lightning return to action on Saturday afternoon when the host Medgar Evers College. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 PM.
