Gill’s 46 Points Pace Women’s Hoopsters To Win Over Medgar Evers

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Forward Nina Gill scored a career-high 46 points to lead the Lehman College women's basketball team to a 76-71 victory against hosts Medgar Evers College in a CUNYAC encounter on Saturday at Cougars Cave.  The win is the first for the Lightning this season (1-11; 1-2 CUNYAC), while the Cougars drop to 1-7 record and 0-2 in conference play.

Lehman held a 38-33 lead after two quarters with Gill notching 24 of her points in the first half.  In the second stanza, the Lightning continued to hold their grounds shooting 45 percent from the field, while Cougars struggled hitting 28 % from the floor.

Despite fouling out with four minutes remaining in the last quarter, Gill also grabbed a Lehman-best 16 rebounds as her remaining teammates held on for the win which ended a 29-game losing skid.

Guard Fatomata Trawalleh had 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, while forward Valeria Rojas Alingue added four assists along with a career-best 23 rebounds for the Lightning.

Lehman will be back in Brooklyn next Wednesday (January 8th) when it faces CUNYAC rival Brooklyn College at 5 pm.
