Brooklyn, NY - The Lightning won their seventh straight downing Brooklyn College 72-55 in a key CUNYAC road victory to improve to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Bulldogs now stand at 3-8:2-1.
Isaiah Geathers paced the Lehman with 18 points and 12 rebounds. It was his third double double of the season.
Mo Idrissou chipped in 16 points while
Tommy Batista tallied 12.
Gian Batista added nine points and a team high 10 rebounds. It was Gian's first game of the season where he didn't net double figures but the second time he registered double figures in rebounding.
Lehman jumped out to an 11-2 to start the game. However the Bulldogs battled back to take a 31-20 lead with 5:15 to play in the first half. It would be Brooklyn's largest lead of the night. The Lightning were able to regain the lead 36-35 on a
Tommy Batista layup in the closing seconds of the half. Lehman scored the first nine points of the second half to push the lead to double figures. The Bulldogs were able to briefly get the lead into single digits but a Geathers layup at the 11:28 mark of the half pushed the advantage back up to double figures where it would stay the remainder of the night. The Lightning were never threatened the rest of the way.
Lehman overcame 22 turnovers and arguably won the game on the foul line. Lehman shot an impressive 21-25 from the charity stripe. Conversely Brooklyn was 4-11.
Lehman returns to action on Friday night at 7 PM as they welcome the Hawks of Hunter College to the APEX.
