Bronx, N.Y. – For the second time this season, the Lehman College men's volleyball team defeated non-conference opponent Sarah Lawrence College, this time at The APEX Main Gym, with a three-set victory (25-11, 25-22, 25-14), on Tuesday. The Lightning improve to a 3-6 record, while the Gryphons drop to 1-9.
After Lehman took the first set, Sarah Lawrence jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the second set. Then the Lightning went on a 21-5 to claim the second game and then closed out the match with victory in third set.
Peter Veljovic led the way for Lehman with 10 kills, four aces and nine digs, while
Mentor Mahmuti had his first 'double-double' of the season with 22 assists and 11 digs.
Amari Blake recorded nine kills along with two blocks, while
Dyvon Webb added six kills for the Lightning whom earn second straight victory over the Gryphons, this season, as both met last month (January 29
th) in Bronxville, N.Y. a 3-1 Lehman-win (25-7, 25-13, 22-25, 25-16).
Lehman returns to action on Thursday when it hosts another non-conference opponent Purchase College at 7 pm.
