Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team dropped a three-set (19-25, 16-25, 23-25) non-conference match-up to visiting Purchase College on Thursday evening at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning fall to 3-7 record, while the Panthers improve to 2-6 mark.
After dropping the first two sets, Lehman had Purchase leveled in the third game, 16-16. Then, the Panthers went a 4 to 1 run to take a 20-17 lead and forcing the Lightning to take a time-out.
After each side scored three points each, Lehman had to take its final time-out with the score 23-20 in favor of Purchase. The Lightning followed with a 3 to 1 run to make it 24-23, before the Panthers stopped play with a time-out.
Team captain Jeremiah Huntt had his 14
th and final kill of the evening for Purchase in claim the match.
Peter Veljovic paced the Lehman offense with eight kills and grabbed 10 digs, while
Mentor Mahmuti dished out 15 assists along with six kills and seven digs.
The Lightning hit the road this weekend as they compete in a non-conference tri-match against St. Joseph's College-NY and hosts Eastern University.
