St. Davids, Pa. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team earned a split of non-conference tri-match after defeating St. Joseph's College-NY in three sets (25-22, 27-25, 25-13) before falling to hosts Eastern University in three (20-25, 7-25, 14-25).
The Lightning (4-8) were led by
Peter Veljovic who had 10 kills and nine digs against St. Joseph's-NY (2-4), while
Dyvon Webb added eight kills, three service aces and two blocks for the victory in the opener.
In the nightcap, Lehman had a 6-5 lead over Eastern University (6-1) in the first game before being outscored 20 to 16 to drop the set. Lightning were unable to recover as they fell in the other two sets to lose the match. Veljovic once again paced Lehman with nine kills and 13 digs, while
Mentor Mahmuti dished out 12 assists along with seven digs.
The Lightning begin CUNYAC play next Monday when they compete in a tri-match against Baruch College and hosts John Jay College at 12 pm and 2 pm, respectively.
