Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team posted a five-set (25-22, 24-26, 24-26, 27-25, 15-13) thrilling victory over visiting Yeshiva University in a non-conference encounter on Wednesday evening at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning improve to 5-10 overall ledger, while the Maccabees drop to a 1-3 mark.
After Lehman took the first set (25-22), Yeshiva turned the match around and won back-to-back games by the same score (26-24) to take a 2-1 lead.
Trailing 23-17 in the fourth set, the Lightning battled back going on a 10-2 run to tie the match at 2-2 and force a fifth a deciding set, which was won by Lehman (15-13).
Peter Veljovic paced the Lightning as he earned a 'double-double' with 12 kills and 23 digs, while
Mentor Mahmuti also had a 'double-double' dishing out 13 assists along with 10 digs. Mahmuti added nine kills, while
Dyvon Webb had 10 kills, four digs and two blocks.
Lehman is back in action this weekend when it travels to Reading, Pa. for a non-conference tri-match at Alvernia University.
