Lehman Falls to Baruch in Women's Tennis

The Lehman College women's tennis team returned to action on Saturday evening at Stadium Tennis Center for a match against Baruch College. Originally scheduled at the National Tennis Center, the match was moved indoors due to the weather.  Taking on the top team in the CUNYAC conference, the Lightning fell 9-0.

Senior captain Joanna Rosario put up a good fight at second singles, but ultimately fell  7-5, 6–1. Freshman Ann Marie Baliong fought well at #6 singles, dropping a 6-2, 6-4 battle.

At the top singles spot, Bearcat Ava DeGuzmam ended Lehman freshman Viola Avdyli's undefeated CUNYAC run in a match that took an hour and a half to reach 6-0, 6-1. DeGuzman proved clutch and poised, pulling out deuce game after deuce game, handling Avdyli's pace with a variety of spins and careful placement.

The Lightning return to action on Tuesday evening at the National Tennis Center against Yeshiva University. First serve is scheduled for 7pm.
