The Lehman College men's soccer shutout Medgar Evers College 4-0 in a CUNYAC contest this afternoon on the South Field. With the victory the Lightning improve to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Cougars fall to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the CUNYAC.
After a slow start the Lightning got on the scoreboard in the 30th minute when
Mubarak Ouro blasted a shot from just inside the penalty box. The assist was credited to
Mohammad Jagne. The scored remained that way until halftime. Ouro doubled the Lightning advantage 12 minutes into the second half as he redirected a pass from the end line that
Thierno Aw place perfectly on his right foot. Nine minutes from the end of the contest the it was
Ebenezer Otoo who shot one past Carl Henry Obeissant, who was under constant pressure the entire second half.
Eduardo Victorio closed out the scoring in the 89
th minute when he delivered a volley from inside the box past the Cougars keeper.
Lehman out-shot Medgar Evers 21-4; 15 of which came in the second half. The Lightning also dominated on corner kicks 10-1. Lightning net minder
Demiraldo Grunasi was only called upon to make one save and picked up his second shutout of the season.
The Lightning return to action on Wednesday with the start of a four-match road swing through the CUNYAC. Lehman will travel to Randall Island to face Hunter on Wednesday before going to York next Saturday. The following week features a pair of contests on Randall's Island against John Jay and Baruch.
