Lightning Top Beavers; Claim CUNYAC Regular Season Title

Bronx, N.Y. – For a second consecutive season, the Lehman College men's soccer claimed the CUNYAC Regular Season Title after defeating visiting CCNY, 5-2, at South Field on Wednesday evening.  The Lightning improve to an 8-3-1 overall ledger and 6-1 in CUNYAC, while the Beavers fall to 4-7 mark and 4-2 in conference play.

Lehman got on the board first on Wednesday evening just before halftime when forward Ebenezer Otoo headed home a throw-in from midfielder Eduardo Victorio which was one-touched passed by teammate Mohammad Jagne for the 1-0 lead.

After the Beavers tied the game off a penalty kick tally from forward Nicholas Karkut in 57th minute-mark, midfielder Jimmy Lopez scored his first career goal for the Lightning off an assist from Jagne 12 minutes later.

Midfielder Mubarak Ouro made it 3-1 in favor of Lehman with a tally off another assist from Victorio in 74th minute, before teammate Ryuji Sugiyama added his first goal of the campaign less than 20 seconds later.

After Ouro notched his second goal of the game for the Lightning in the 88th minute-mark, midfielder Konstatine Mendrinos scored for the Beavers with five second remaining.

Lehman is back in action on Saturday when it hosts its regular season finale against non-conference opponent Pratt Institute at South Field with kickoff set for 2 pm ET.
