Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 5-0 blanking of Pratt Institute in a non-conference encounter at South Field on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning improve to 9-3-1 ledger, while the Cannoneers drop to 2-12 mark.
Lehman opened the scoring in 13
th minute-mark when midfielder
Mubarak Ouro found the back of the net off an assist from defender
Peter Adewusi.
Midfielder
Jimmy Lopez made it 2-0 for the Lightning after scoring his first of two tallies off a pass from teammate
Ryuji Sugiyama.
Four minutes into the second stanza, Lopez notched his second goal off a freekick pass from Ouro to give Lehman a 5-0 advantage.
Forward
Ebenezer Otoo added to the Lightning offense scoring an unassisted tally in the 65
th minute-mark.
Then with seven minutes remaining, midfielder
Qun Gjevukaj closed out the scoring for Lehman as he notched his first collegiate goal off a cross from teammate
Jovani Guzman for the 5-0 final.
The Lightning defense limited the Cannoneers to only two overall shots in the game. Meanwhile, goalkeepers
Demiraldo Grunasi and
Tony Flores each shared time in net and did not need to make a save.
Lehman, which already clinched its second consecutive conference regular season title (6-1 record), secured the number one seed and a first round by in the upcoming CUNYAC Championships. The Lightning hosts a conference semifinal encounter next Saturday at South Field against Wednesday's opening round winner between Hunter College vs. Brooklyn College.
