Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Lightning Women's Tennis Bows to Brooklyn in CUNYAC Opening Round

The #5 seed Lehman College women's tennis team returned to action on Sunday afternoon for a CUNYAC quarterfinal match against Brooklyn College. The Lightning hit the road for a 12:30 showdown at #4 seed Brooklyn on the Roosevelt Courts.  The Bulldogs prevailed 7-2.

Senior captain Joanna Rosario and partner, freshman Viola Avdyli, won 8-5 at #1 doubles. Avdyli also won at the top singles spot, 6-0, 6-0. The rest of the matches went the way of the Bulldogs, with Rosario dropping #2 singles in 7-5, 6-3. Freshman Effie Pang battled well at #6 singles, but fell 6-3, 6-2.

The Lightning will look to reschedule a rained out match from earlier in the season before wrapping up the 2021 campaign.
