Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team concluded the regular season at home after dropping three-set encounters to non-conference opponents to Sarah Lawrence College (13-25, 22-25, 9-25) and King's College-Pa. (13-25, 6-25, 11-25), respectively, during a tri-match at APEX Auxiliary Gym on Saturday.
After losing the first set to Gryphons (10-15), the Lightning (1-15) held a 12-10 lead midway through the second game. However, Sarah Lawrence went on 15 to 10 run to take the second set over Lehman.
In the third set, the Lightning once again had an early lead (2-0) however the Gryphons pulled away out scoring the hosts 25 to 7 to take the match.
Andrea Alarcon led the offense for Lehman with seven kills and 11 digs, while Daira Hernandez and
Doribel Duran Ubiera each added five kills.
Sarah Lawrence dropped the second match of the day in three sets to King's-Pa.
In the third encounter of the day, the Lightning once again fell behind early and lost then eventually lost the first set to the Monarchs. After dropping the second set, Lehman had a 1-0 advantage early on, however King's-Pa. went on a 25 to 10 run to win the third game and the match.
Alarcon once again paced the Lightning with five kills and six digs, while
Heder Rodriguez added four kills and 10 assists.
Lehman, which had already clinched a spot into the CUNYAC Postseason, will travel to Manhattan on Tuesday where it will meet Hunter College in the opening round of the conference tournament at Huntersportsplex at 6 pm ET on Tuesday.
