Despite 18 points from
Mojisola Shokeye and 16 from
Brianna Barnes, the Lightning women's basketball team fell 64-37 to The US Merchant Marine Academy (8-1). Barnes was also credited with a game high 16 rebounds.
Five minutes into the contest the Lightning (1-6) trailed 6-5 however, the Mariners went on a 14-3 to end the first quarter. The Lightning had a strong second quarter scoring 11 points to the Mariners 15. But USMMA came out of the locker room at half time and outscored Lehman 15-6 in the third quarter. In the final ten minutes USMMA added 14 more points to Lehman's 12. The Lightning struggled shooting the ball all night converting 10 of 42 attempts from the floor. Lehman did make 17 of 21 free throws. The Lighting were also credited with 25 turnovers. Defensive the Lehman limited the Mariners to .355 shooting percentage. However, USMMA out-rebounded Lehman 45-31.
USMMA's Grace Jackson led all scorers with 25.
