Isaiah Geathers scored 27 points to lead the Lightning to an 82-76 victory over Brooklyn College in the CUNYAC opener for both teams and becomes the newest member in Lehman's 1,000 Point Club. Geathers now has scored 1,003 points for the Lightning.
The Lightning (4-1:1-0) overcame a three-point deficit at half, by shooting 53% for the night, en route to outscoring Bulldogs 47-38 in the second half.
Gian Batista and
Will Feldman also tallied double figures with 19 and 11 points respectively. Batista and
Lennox DeGrasse controlled the boards with 10 rebounds apiece.
The Bulldogs (1-7:0-1) led by as many as eight points on several occasions in the first half before the Lightning battled back. Lehman came out of the locker room of the locker room to start the second half by going on a 9-2 run; seven of those points were by Geathers. Geathers netted 20 points in the final 20 minutes. From that point the Lightning never trailed. Lehman led by as many as 15 points midway through the second half. Brooklyn would trim the lead to six on several occasions but would not get any closer.
The Lightning will host Centenary College on Wednesday in their home opener. Tip off is slated for 7 PM.
