Brooklyn, NY – The Lehman College women's basketball team lost their CUNYAC opener 41-94 to Brooklyn College. The Lightning featured a balanced scoring attack at
Kimberly Garcia tallied 11 points,
Mojisola Shokeye scored 10,
Brianna Barnes netted 9, and
Kahdija Jabbi 8. Barnes led all players with 13 rebounds.
The Lightning (1-4:0-1) struggled in the first quarter shooting the ball as Lehman only made one of their 13 field goal attempts. The Bulldogs (5-1:1-0) jumped out to a 22-4 lead after the first ten minutes. The Lightning wows continued in the second quarter as Brooklyn took a 48-16 lead into the locker room at half time. Brooklyn kept the pressure on the remaining of the contest outscoring Lehman 27-14 in the third quarter and 19-11 in the fourth quarter.
The Lightning will regroup this coming week as they prepare for a road trip to St. Mary's College of Maryland next Saturday afternoon.
