Lightning Win Eighth Straight As It Zaps Cardinals

Bronx, N.Y. – Gian Batista scored the last eight points (of his 30 total) for the hosts Lehman College men's basketball team's eighth consecutive victory as it defeated York College-NY, 81-77, in a CUNYAC encounter on Wednesday at The APEX Main Gym.  The Lightning improve to a 10-1 overall ledger and remain perfect with a 4-0 CUNYAC mark, while the Cardinals drop to a 3-7 record and 1-1 in conference play.

After taking a 45-30 lead into the intermission, Lehman continued into the second half and led by as many as 18 points early on.
 
Then, the Cardinals slowing began picking away the Lightning's advantage and actually took the lead 73-70 with three minutes remaining. 
 
Isaiah Geathers hit a clutch three-pointer 16 second later to level the match at 73.  This was followed up with three consecutive layups from Batista to give Lehman a 79-75 edge with a 1:09 remaining.  The native of Santiago, Dominican Republic then closed out the scoring with two clutch free-throws with seven seconds left for the Lightning's victory.
 
Along with his 30 points, Batista grabbed 17 rebounds with four assists, while Geathers added 19 points and Mo Idrissou scored 10 for Lehman.
 
The Lightning conclude his three-game home-stand on Saturday when they take on John Jay College in another CUNYAC match-up at 2 pm ET.
