Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team extended its winning streak to nine games after posting an 81-71 victory against visiting John Jay College in a CUNYAC encounter on Saturday at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning improve to an 11-1 overall record and a perfect 5-0 in CUNYAC, while the Bloodhounds fall to 3-8 mark and 1-1 in conference play.
After taking a 40-26 lead at the intermission, Lehman increased its advantage to 21 points (49-28) with two minutes into the second stanza.
The Bloodhounds battled back and cut the lead to six (75-69) with 1:12 remaining. However, the Lightning ended with a six to two run to close out the scoring and hold on for the victory.
Isaiah Geathers led the way for Lehman with 30 points, while
Gian Batista had 17 points with 10 rebounds and was two assists shy (eight) of a 'triple-double.'
Mo Idrissou added 16 points for the Lightning.
Lehman hit the road next Wednesday as it takes Baruch College (9-4; 3-0 CUNYAC) in a battle of undefeated conference teams with tip off set for 7:30 pm ET.
