New York, NY - The Lightning (11-2:5-1) dropped their first conference game of the season and suffered their first set back in ten games falling 71-67 to Baruch (10-4:4-0).
Isaiah Geathers paced Lehman with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Teammate
Gian Batista tallied 18 points while grabbing 18 rebounds and dishing out nine assists.
The teams were tied at 33 after the first twenty minutes thanks in part to Geathers who scored 20 points in the first half. In the second half the lead changed hands nine times until reserve guard
Keith Karen drained a three pointer to give the Lightning a 59-57 lead with 5:35 to play. Lehman was able to extend their advantage to 63-59 after Batista nailed a pair of free throws with 3:20 remaining. The Bearcats would then go on a 6-0 run to take a 65-63 lead with just over a minute to play. The teams traded free throws down the stretch and the Bearcats were able to hold on as they made 8 of 8 from the charity stripe during the final stages of the games.
Lehman will continue its short road trip on Friday night as they travel to Medgar Evers College. Tip-off at the Cougars Cave is slated for 7 PM.
