Gian Batista scored 27 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and dished out 15 assists as the Lightning downed Hunter 111-101 to improve to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the CUNYAC.
Lehman also got strong performances from
Isaiah Geathers who netted 27 while grabbing nine rebounds.
Mo Idrissou chipped in 18 points and
Juan Fernandez tallied 10 points.
The Lightning used a 25-12 run late in the first half to pull away from the Hawks (8-9:4-4) taking a 52-38 lead before settling on a 56-47 lead at the half. The Hawks cut the lead to six with a quick three pointer to start the second half. However, the Lightning quickly answered with a 19-3 run to push their advantage to 22. Hunter cut the lead to eight with 1:48 to play but would not be able to get any closer. The Lightning closed out the game making 7-8 free throws down the stretch.
The Lehman game scheduled for Friday was just postponed. Lehman will get back on the February 1 as the Lightning travel to CCNY for a 7:00 PM match up with the Beavers.
