Hackettstown, N.J. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team lost both non-conference matches, in three sets each, to hosts Centenary University-NJ at John M. Reeves Student Rec Center on Saturday. The Lightning fall to 4-11 record, while the Cyclones improve to 9-9 mark.
Lehman jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first set of the twin-bill opener however, Centenary-NJ went on a 25-15 run to take the game (25-18). The Cyclones then took the second and third sets, 25-14 and 25-15, respectively. Outside hitter
Selena Mitchell had five kills for the Lightning, while setter
Heder Rodriguez posted a 'double-double' dishing out 12 assists, while grabbing 15 digs.
After losing the opening set, 8-25, during the nightcap, Lehman once again took an early advantage, 7-3, in the second set. However, Centenary-NJ outscored its opponent 22-10 to claim the second set (25-17). The hosts later completed the three-set victory and twin-bill sweep with 25-10 triumph. Mitchell and outside hitter Daira Hernandez both hit five kills each for the Lightning.
Lehman continue its road swing on Tuesday (October 18
th) when it travels to Queens for a CUNYAC encounter against York College-NY at 7 pm ET.
