New York, N.Y. – A pair of CUNYAC three-set losses the Lehman College women's volleyball team suffered on Saturday to Brooklyn College and hosts Baruch College at Arc Arena.
After losing the first set (24-26) to Baruch Bearcats (13-7; 3-0 CUNYAC), the Lightning (4-10; 1-4 CUNYAC) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the second set. However, Baruch battled back with a 31-23 run to post the victory in the second set (29-31). Once again, Lehman took the hosts to the limit in the third set however dropped another heartbreaker this time, 23-25.
Outside hitter
Selena Mitchell led the way for the Lightning with 12 kills, nine digs, five service aces and two blocks. Teammate
Daria Hernandez hit nine kills, while setter
Heder Rodriguez dished out 20 assists and grabbed 18 digs. Libero
Lizbeth Perez also had 15 digs for Lehman.
In the second CUNYAC match, Lehman faltered to Brooklyn Bulldogs (10-9; 2-1 CUNYAC) in three-straight (11-25, 6-25, 14-25). Hernandez and outside hitter
Andrea Alarcon had three kills each, while Mitchell posted two kills and six digs for the Lightning.
Lehman continue its road swing next Saturday (October 15
th) when it travels to Hackettstown, N.J. and competes in the tri-match against Cheyne University and hosts Centenary University-NJ.
