The Lightning opened the 22-23 campaign competing at the 24
th Annual USJ Tip-off Tournament. Lehman defeated Wellesley 56-44 in the opening round. Mojisola Shokeye and Brianna Barnes led the way with 15 points apiece.
Lehman found themselves down 7-0 early in the contest but battled back to only trail by four, 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. It wasn't until the 6:30 of the second quarter that the Lightning took their first lead, 18-16, of the night on a Brianna Barnes lay-up. However, the Lightning trailed 30-26 at the break. In the third quarter Lehman held their biggest lead of the night four point 41-37 before settling on a 41-39 lead as the teams headed to the final quarter. The fourth quarter was all Lehman. Once the Lightning grabbed the lead, they would not let it go. Lehman went on a 10-0 over the final five minutes of the contest to secure the victory.
The Lehman pressure defense kept the Lightning in the game as forced 32 turnovers
Lehman moves onto to the final of the tournament on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM to play the hosts, the University of Saint Joseph.
