Morristown, N.J. – Guard Mojisola Shokeye hit two clutch free-throws with 24 seconds remaining to pace the Lehman College women's basketball team to a 54-51 win over hosts Saint Elizabeth University in a non-conference encounter at Saint Joseph Hall on Saturday. The Lightning improved to a 2-1 overall ledger, while the Eagles remain winless as they fall to an 0-4 mark.
Lehman led by as many as 18 points (45-27) by the closing minutes of the third quarter. However, Saint Elizabeth when on a 13-0 run to end the period trailing by only five points (45-40).
The Eagles trailed by a single basket (53-51) with just over a minute remaining, however, Shokeye, who finished with a 'double-double' scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 boards for the Lightning, sealed the victory with her two free-throws.
Forward Kryshana Levy led the way for Lehman with 15 points, while teammate Brianna Barnes had nine points with six assists.
The Lightning will be back in action after Thanksgiving when they travel to Harrisburg, Pa. to compete against Juniata College on Saturday (November 26
th) as part of the Pride, Spirit and Honor Tournament, hosted by PSU-Harrisburg, with tip off set for 7 pm ET.
