Bronx, N.Y. - The hosts Lehman College women's basketball fell by a score of 71-53 to William Paterson University in the championship final of 15th edition of Coaches vs Cancer Tournament on Thursday at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning drop to a 4-7 overall record, while the Pioneers improve to an 8-4 mark.
Lehman trailed by three points after the first quarter, however William Paterson went on a 15 to 7 run to close out the half and take a 34-23 advantage. The Pioneers outscored the Lightning in the third and fourth periods, 18-13 and 19-17, respectively to hold on to the victory as forward Justina Cabezas led the way for the visitors with 19 points as she was earned as the tournament's most valuable player. Also William Paterson's forward Renee Wells added 14 points as she made the All-Tournament Team.

Brianna Barnes paced the offense with a 'double-double' with 28 points and 19 rebounds as she was also selected to the All-Tournament Team.
In the earlier consolation game of the Coaches vs Cancer Tournament on Thursday, Neumann University posted a 56-36 triumph over Penn College of Technology. Lauren Klieber was selected to the All-Tournament Team for Neumann, while Rachel Teats made it for Penn College.
Lehman returns to CUNYAC action next Tuesday (January 3rd) when it travels to take on CCNY at Manhattan's Nat Holman Gym with tip-off set for 5 pm ET.
