Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team fell, in the regular season finale, by a score of 78-60 to visiting Hunter College in a conference encounter at The APEX Main Gym on Wednesday. The Lightning drop to 3-16 record and 2-10 in CUNYAC, while the Hawks improve to 9-13 mark and 6-6 in conference play.
After trailing 50-30 at the intermission, Lehman staged a comeback and outscored Hunter 21-12 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 11 points. However, the Hawks went on a 16 to 9 run in the fourth period to pull away for the victory.
Brianna Barnes led the way for the Lightning as she had another 'double-double' scoring 18 points, while grabbing 17 rebounds. Barnes also dished out six assists and had six steals.
Mojisola Shokeye also added to the Lehman scoring with 16 points as did
Kimberly Garcia with 13.
Wednesday's encounter also bid farewell to
Rebecca Gritz whom played her final regular season game with a Lehman jersey.
The Lightning now enter the postseason as the number six seed and will take on third seeded Baruch College in the quarterfinal match of the CUNYAC Championships this Sunday at 1 pm ET.
