Lightning Cruise Past Hunter in the Semifinals

The Lightning (21-3) are going back to the CUNYAC Finals on Friday night after defeating Hunter (13-13) 122-95 before the Lehman College faithful earlier tonight.

For the first time all season the Lightning registered six players in double figures led by Isaiah Geather's 27 points.  Gian Batista chipped in 25 while Will Feldman added 20 points.  Mo Idrissou, Lennox DeGrasse and Juan Fernandez added 17, 13 and 10 points respectively.  The 122 points were a season high for Lehman.   Geathers also grabbed a career high 20 rebounds.  Batista registered his third triple double of the season by adding 10 assists and 14 rebounds.

The teams traded baskets in the early going and then with the Lightning leading 11-9, Lehman went on a 10-0 and never looked back.  Idrissou tallied five points in the spurt.  Hunter would cut into the deficit, trimming the lead to five but Lehman answered with another 8-0 run to stretch their advantage to 13 (38-25).  The Lightning were able to push their lead up to 20 points before setting on a 67-50 advantage at halftime.  Early in the second half the Hawks trimmed the lead to 15 but that was as close as they were able to get.

The big disparity in this contest came at the foul line where the Lightning was 28-40 (.700) and Hunter was only 5-12 (.417).  The Lightning also controlled the boards holding a 64-46 rebounding advantage.  Lehman also held the advantage shooting, converting 43-79 (.544) as compared to 36-98 (.367).

It is the first time since the 2017-18 season that Lehman will play in the final with a chance to make the NCAA Tournament.  Lehman will play Baruch, who defeated York 77-60 in the other semifinal.
