The Lehman College (4-4) men's volleyball team traveled to Morristown, NJ and came away with a 3-0 loss to St. Elizabeth (5-1).
St. Elizabeth took the first set 25-14 and then went onto to win the second and third set by the identical score of 25-10. In the first set, with the Lightning trailing 16-13, the Eagles went on a 9-1 run to grab the opening set. IN the second set, trailing 9-8, the Eagles used an 8-1 run to take control of the set. The Lightning tried to battle back but were only able to cut the deficit to four before the Eagles prevailed. In the third set, the Lightning owned a 13-9 lead before St. Elizabeth scored 8 of the next nine points to take a 17-13 lead. The Lightning were able to cut the lead to one but could not even the score before eventually falling.
Andrew Figueroa led the Lightning attack with seven kills.
Miguel Gonzalez and
Isaac Reyes added five apiece.
Christian Agudo was credited with two service aces. Gonzalez also led the team in assists with seven and Reyes led the squad in digs with six.
The Lightning is back in action on Saturday as they host Drew and Neumann in a tri-match beginning at 10 AM.
