Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball swept a non-conference twin-bill from visiting Yeshiva University, 14-2 and 12-2, in five innings each, respectively, on Wednesday, at South Field. The Lightning improve to 2-2 overall record, while the Maccabees fall to 2-11 mark.
In the opener, Yeshiva took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before Lehman answered with three runs in the bottom half and two more in the second inning for a 5-2 advantage. After scoring three more runs in the bottom of the third, the Lightning continued to hold the Maccabees scoreless through the fourth inning. In the bottom the fourth, Lehman added for more runs for the victory.
Jeremmy Santos led the way for the Lightning in the first game going three-for-three, with a double, a run scored and 4 RBI, while
Randy Polanco pitched three strong innings and struck out three batters for the victory on the mound.
In the nightcap, Maccabees once again took the lead in the opening inning, this time, 1-0, however, Lightning's
Kyle James hit a solo homer in the bottom half to level the game. After Lehman scored three times in the bottom of second, Yeshiva got a run in in top of the fourth to make it 4-2 game. However, Lightning added two runs in the bottom of the fourth and six more in the five to clinched the victory.
Glennd Jarrin paced the Lehman offense in the second encounter going three-for-four with two runs scored and four RBI, while
Tran Hennessy pitched five innings and struck out four for his first win of the season.
The Lightning are back in action at South Field on Thursday when they hosts non-conference rival College of Mount Saint Vincent in a twin-bill with first pitch set for 4 pm ET.
