Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to visiting Saint Elizabeth University by scores of 16-15 and 12-3, on Tuesday at South Field. The Lightning drop to a 5-8 overall record, while the Eagles improve to 9-14 mark.
After trailing in the opener, 12-2, going into the bottom of third, Lehman scored eight times to make it a two-run game (12-10). Then after holding the Eagles scoreless for two more innings, the Lightning added four more runs to take a 14-10 advantage.
With Lehman holding on to a 15-14 lead into the top of the seventh, St. Elizabeth scored twice to regain the lead and eventually win the encounter.
Jeremmy Santos led the way for Lightning in the first game going two-for-four with three RBI and two runs scored, while
Tran Hennessy also added three RBI with a run scored.
In the nightcap, Lehman was held to just three runs as
Eamon Maher,
Justin Nunez,
Patrick Ortiz and
Nomar Rijo each had hits for the hosts. Ortiz and Santos also added an RBI each.
The Lightning will be back in action on Friday when they welcome John Jay College in a CUNYAC twin-bill at South Field with the first pitch set for noon.
