Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team left 10 runners on base as it dropped a 17-14 non-conference encounter to visiting College at Old Westbury on Thursday at South Field. The Lightning fall to a 6-10 overall record, while the Panthers improve to 9-20.
Old Westbury jumped out to a commanding 14-2 lead midway through game. However, Lehman began to come back scoring six runs in the bottom of sixth to make it a 14-8 encounter. After both sides crossed the plate twice in the seventh inning, the Panthers scored again in the eighth to take a 17-10 advantage. The Lightning answered with four runs in the bottom the eighth, however, the Panthers held on for the victory by shutout out the hosts in the ninth.
Nomar Rijo led the offense for Lehman as he went three-for-four, with a double, a run scored and three RBI.
Tran Hennessy went three-for-five with three runs scored and two RBI, while
Eamon Maher was three-for-four as he crossed the plate twice and drove in two runs.
The Lightning return to action on Saturday as they visit CCNY in a CUNYAC Doubleheader at Ohio Field on the Campus of Bronx Community College with the first pitch set for 12 pm ET.
