Baseball Lose Two To Baruch

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team lost both games of CUNYAC doubleheader to visiting Baruch College, by scores of 16-0 and 9-7, respectively, at South Field on Saturday.  The Lightning fall to 6-15 overall record and 4-8 in CUNYAC action, while the Bearcats improve to 13-9 mark and 11-1 in conference play.

The twin-bill also bid farewell to seniors Kyle James and Eamon Maher whom played their final regular season home games for Lehman.

After only managing five hits in the opener, the home side only trailed 3-2 going into the fourth inning of the nightcap.  Then Baruch scored five times in the next two innings to increase their lead to 8-2.  However, the Lightning answered with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to a single run (8-7).  With the Bearcats adding an insurance run in the top of the seventh, the visitors then continued to hold the hosts scoreless in the bottom half of the inning for the victory.

Maher had three RBI in the nightcap, while going one-for-four with a run scored.  Kevin Arias wend two-for-three with two RBI, while Justin Nunez added a homer for Lehman.

Prior to the playoffs, the Lightning first will conclude their regular season with a non-conference match-up at St. Joseph's College-LI on Sunday with the first pitch set for noon.
