Bronx, N.Y. – Looking to extend its 2022 season is Lehman College softball team as it takes on Hunter College in the semifinals of double-elimination CUNYAC Championships on Friday at Brooklyn College Softball Field with the first pitch is set for 11 am ET.
The Lehman-Hunter winner will face the winner of other semifinal between Baruch College-John Jay College. The semifinal losing teams will also face off later in the day in an elimination game to see who remains in two-day CUNYAC Tournament.
Lehman (11-14) is coming off a 6-0 home victory against Brooklyn in the CUNYAC Championship First Round this past Tuesday at South Field. The Lightning took advantage of the Bulldogs' errors to take a 3-0 lead early and then added three more, while
Samantha Nazar pitched a three-hit complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Hunter Hawks (19-11), who earned a first-round tournament bye after finishing atop of conference regular season standings, are coming off two losses at home to NYU, by scores of 8-0 and 9-3, respectively, this past Tuesday in Randall's Island.
Hunter has won 31 of the last 32 head-to-head encounters against Lehman since 2008. The last time both sides faced off was on April 27
th, with Hunter winning both at home. After losing the opener 8-0, the Lightning fell 5-3 in the nightcap.
