Men’s Soccer Drop Home Opener To Yeshiva

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision in its fall season home opener to non-conference opponent Yeshiva University on Thursday evening at South Field.  The Lightning go to 0-1 record, while the Maccabees improve to 1-0 mark.

A physical game that saw a total of 22 team fouls and 10 yellow cards (four – Lehman; six – Yeshiva).

Midfielder Mohmmad Jagne got Lehman on the board in the 18th minute off an assist from forward Malik Lashley.

Forward Josh Ziarno, who had a hat-trick for Yeshiva on Thursday, notched his first goal in 30th minute-mark.

The Maccabees took a 2-1 lead early in the second half as Ziarno got his second goal of the game three minutes in off a cross from midfielder Gabe Einhorn.

After Ziarno completed the triple tally in the 75th minute, the Lightning continued to press the Maccabees' defense and cut the lead to 3-2 with two minutes remaining when Jagne hit his second goal of the game.  However, Yeshiva held on for the victory.

The Lightning return to action in nine days (Saturday, Sept. 10th) when it travels to Cabrini University for a non-conference encounter.
