Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming team dropped a non-conference dual meet to visiting William Paterson University at The APEX Pool on Tuesday evening with the men's side falling by a score of 94-81, while the women's squad lost 87-61.
The Lightning men (2-5) were led by Brandon Coombs who claimed gold in the 200 IM (2:05.60) and 100 Backstroke (56.93). Coombs was also on the first-place 200 Medley Relay side (1:55.88) along with
Andres Estrella,
Brahian Castillo and
Tri Dinh. Joel Matos-Oaulino captured gold in the 100 Breaststroke clocking in at 2:03.35, while
Kevin Arias,
Jaheim Burrowes, Gleend Jarrin and
Musa Mazreku were on the winning 200 Freestyle Relay Team with a time of 2:26.26.
Lehman women (1-6) was paced by
Arlene Suzana,
Ofelia Valadez and
Mariana Valdes Martinez as they each won gold in their respective races. Suzana took first in the 50 Freestyly (26.72); Valadez finished atop in the 100 Breaststroke (1:27.45); and Valdes-Martinez claimed 500 Freestyle (8:12.42).
The Lightning return to CUNYAC action this Thursday (January 12
th) when they travel for a dual meet at Baruch College with the first event set for 6 pm ET.
