Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming teams concluded the regular season on Thursday at The APEX pool as the men's team won a tri-meet over Sarah Lawrence College, 57-19, and CUNYAC rival York College-NY, 57-27; while the women's side posted a 62-22 victory against York Cardinals.
The Lightning men (4-6; 1-2 CUNYAC) were led by
Brandon Coombs,
Tri Dinh and
Romulo Valadez as they all walked away with an individual and team medal each. Coombs, Dinh and Valadez were on the 200 Medley Relay side along with
Andres Estrella that clocked in first at 1:56.66. Coombs also finished first in the 200 Freestyle (1:54.22), while Dinh took 500 Freestyle (8:11.41) and Valadez claimed the 400 IM (5:34.58). Rounding the action for the men's side were
Kevin Arias,
Alejandro Carrillo,
Musa Mazreku and
Joel Matos-Paulino as they were on the 200 Freestyle Relay team that won the gold with a time of 2:17.35.
Lehman women (4-7; 2-3 CUNYAC) were paced by
Ofelia Valadez as she won individual gold in the 200 Freestyle (2:36.86) and 100 Breaststroke (1:27.62); as well team gold in 200 Medley Relay (2:22.85) with
Xitlali Martinez,
Arlene Suzana and
Mariana Valdes Martinez and 200 Freestyle Relay (2:33.16) with
Elizabeth DelaCruz,
Grisley Velez and Valdes Martinez. Also, for the women's squad, Suzana finished atop in the 100 Butterfly (1:13.36); Valdes Martinez claimed 100 Freestyle (1:16.80); and Martinez took first in the 200 Breaststroke (3:13.64).
Lehman will return to action on January 27
th when it hosts the CUNYAC Championships.
