Men’s Soccer Top Medgar Evers; Crowned CUNYAC Regular Season Champ

Bronx, N.Y. – Six different players scored as the Lehman College men's soccer team crowned CUNYAC Regular Season Champion and have the number #1 seed in the postseason tournament after defeating visiting Medgar Evers College, 6-0, on Monday at South Field.  The Lightning go to a 7-5 overall ledger and 6-1 in CUNYAC action, while the Cougars drop to an 1-12-1 mark and 0-6-1 in conference play.

Midfielder Bright Takyi opened the scoring for Lehman in the seventh minute off an assist from teammate Adam Kowalski.  

After forward Mohmand Ali Sogoba made it 2-0 for the Lightning in the 25th minute-mark, teammate Phillip Osei notched his sixth tally of the season off a penalty kick four minutes later.

Forward Ebenzer Otto continued the Lehman scoring with his fifth tally of the campaign two minutes into the second half off a pass from defender Butrious Baah.  

Midfielder Brandon Dennis also got his name onto the Lightning score sheet with an unassisted goal in the 59th minute-mark.

Lehman had to play the remaining minutes with 10 players after midfielder McLean Obioha was ejected after receiving a straight red card in the 72nd minute.

Six minutes later, forward Johan Martinez Moran had Lehman's sixth tally of the game in 78th minute off an assist from midfielder Rahaman Abdulhaire.

Lightning goalkeeper Daniel Morales made just two saves for his second shutout of the campaign.

Lehman will now hosts the winner of the CUNYAC Quarterfinal encounter between #4-John Jay College vs. #5-Brooklyn College in the postseason tournament's semifinals scheduled for this Saturday.
